Once again, Representative Jo Ann Emerson has shown her true RINO and liberal leaning colors to the people of Missouri’s 8th district. On July 18 of this year, a delegation of 127 Congressmen and women drafted a letter to Speaker of the House (John Boehner) and Majority Leader (Eric Cantor) urging them to bring legislation to the floor of the House to defund the Affordable Care Act, more commonly referred to as Obamacare. One Republican’s name is very noticeably absent from the list of those courageous enough to sign this letter. That name is Jo Ann Emerson. Ms. Emerson has been using her vote against Obamacare as the primary pillar in her campaign bid to win an unprecedented 9th term in office.
As stated in a previous article, Jo Ann Emerson will in no way lead the fight for a full repeal of Obamacare. Click this link to see the previous article. To view the Letter written by the 127 members of the House to Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader Cantor, and see for yourselves who put their names on the line to actually fight this legislation, click here.
Daniel Horowitz did and excellent article on this very topic in Red State that you can read that corroborates the need to pressure the House Leadership to bring this measure to the floor. Horowitz’s article, also contains the Letter written, in full, as well as a link to download the names of those who signed the Letter to bring this legislation to the floor. Representative Jo Ann Emerson has proven herself to be the embodiment of a career politician and Washington insider. She sits on the House Appropriations Committee, referred to as the “College of Cardinals” and has refused to sign a simple pledge to fight the very legislation she is campaigning against back here in our district. You can see Ms. Emerson’s true feelings and her desire to implement some form of a National Healthcare System on the American people by watching her exchange with President Obama (recorded by CSPAN in 2009). In the video, she expresses her desire for some form of National Healthcare legislation during her entire tenure of 13 years in office. Of course, Ms. Emerson has now been in office for 16 years. You can see Emerson’s exchange with President Obama for yourselves here.
You can see for yourself just how hypocritical Ms. Emerson is, when it comes to fighting Obamacare in her own campaign ad picked up by the Washington Post, by clicking here or you can view it on her own Youtube channel here. Her campaign ad claims Emerson to be your champion against Obamacare, yet she refuses to sign a simple pledge to bring legislation to the floor of the house to defund it. When it comes to actually fighting Obamacare, Ms. Emerson is business as usual, talking the talk back in our district, while doing the opposite back in Washington DC. She has consistently demonstrated through her own actions, or lack there of in this case, that she will not work for a total repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
The people of our district cannot trust Emerson to stand up against this legislation. She has proven that, time and again to be the case. There is a conservative choice this election for those in our district. You can view the stance of Ms. Emerson’s primary opponent, Bob Parker, by clicking here. Mr. Parker will stand and fight for a full repeal of this monstrosity that has been put on the backs of our tax payers, our children, and grandchildren. You must do your own research and vote your conscience in the Missouri Primary Election on August 7th 2012. The general election will be too late to change anything. To change the character and nature of Washington DC, we need to change who we send to Washington DC.
